Jet Li said in an interview that he wanted to bring the story of the Monkey King to the world, and developed the story with the film-makers so that it would be a fantasy that draws from Journey to the West. This is tied into what Jet has said about wanting to start infuse his martial arts movies with a philosophy of peace and enlightenment through kungfu. The American kid is part of making Chinese culture and philosophy more accessible all over the world. So, I see it as a positive thing. And yeah, you're right, Hero is awesome! Thanks for commenting.
